When you submit a tip, you'll be given a special tracking number--

This is the only connection you will have to your tip. Here are some helpful tips concerning your tracking number:

  • Never share your Crime Stoppers tracking number with ANYONE else.
  • Write your tracking number down and be sure to keep it in a safe place. If you lose it, you lose your connection to the case.
  • Double check the numbers and the letter to be certain you have the tracking number written correctly. A Crime Stoppers tracking number will always be 6 numbers followed by a letter.

Understanding Who We Are
Scotland Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a non-profit organization ... not affiliated with any law enforcement agency or government. We simply collect valuable information related to crimes in our communities and pass the information along to the appropriate investigating agency. Should information you provide lead to an arrest, our Board of Directors will meet and evaluate the information you provided and determine the amount of the reward for that information.

Submitting A Tip by Phone
When you call the Crime Stoppers hotline a detective or other qualified telephone operator will speak with you concerning information you may have. The detective/operator will not ask for your name or any other identifying information and we do not have Caller-ID . Instead, the detective/operator will enter your tip into our database and then provide you with a tracking number. Do not lose your tracking number. You will use this number to check the status of the case you provided information about and to arrange for payment should the information you provide lead to an arrest.

Submitting A Tip Online
When you submit an online tip you can rest assured that the information you provide is totally anonymous. You will never be asked for your name. After entering your tip information you'll receive a tracking number that can be used to check the status of the case. If the information you provide leads to an arrest and a reward is approved, you will also use this tracking number to arrange for payment.

Online Security
When you submit a tip online, we take extra care to ensure that no data is collected or logged that might be used to identify you. We have taken steps to ensure that log files (usually stored by all webservers) are destroyed / empty. Our systems utilize 256-bit SSL connections and we also encrypt all data in our system using 256-bit AES encryption (the same encryption the US Government uses to secure TOP SECRET rated government information). In addition, we have our systems constantly reviewed and updated by an Information Systems Security Professional.

Checking the Case Status
No matter how you submit a tip / information, you will always be given a tracking number. This tracking number can be entered on our homepage to check the status of the case you provided information about. We strongly recommend checking the status of your case online so the hotline can remain available for tips, but you can also call the hotline to check the status of your case.

Getting Paid for your Tip

If information you provide leads to an arrest your tip will be marked for review by the board. The board reviews all qualifying tips and votes on a reward amount (if any) commensurate to the value of the information and the severity of the charges against the suspect / fugitive. Once the board approves your reward, you can contact us by phone or by entering your tracking number online and arrange a date and time to be paid. The payment is made with a third party and you never have to provide any personal identifying information.

Crime Stoppers Works!
If you have information about any criminal activity or any fugitive of the law, call now or submit your tip online
without giving your name. Information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Scotland Crime Stoppers is a non-profit, community-based crime solving program working in conjunction with the police, the media, and the public to help make your community a safer place in which to live. Volunteers work with Board members taking on various tasks from promotion to fund raising to events and special projects or programs. Volunteers are not society directors and do not have to attend Board meetings. Board members are both Directors and Volunteers. The Board of Directors decides on policy, procedure, and standards for program operation. The Board is also responsible for fund raising, promotion, and education. Board members volunteer time as Committee Chairs at events, presentations, speeches, and other meetings as needed.
