Scotland Crime Stoppers, Inc - scotlandcrimestoppers.org   |   Privacy Policy

PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THIS ENTIRE PRIVACY POLICY AND OTHER RELATED POLICIES CAREFULLY BEFORE USING OUR WEBSITE.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. We want to make your experience on our website as rewarding as possible with complete confidence that your privacy & personal security are being protected.

We have created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy and security. This Privacy Policy describes how Scotland Crime Stoppers collects information and what we do with the information we collect --and the choices Visitors/Citizens have concerning the collection and use of such information. We suggest you read this Privacy Policy carefully in its entirety.

Personal Information Collected and How it is Used

  • Introduction

Scotland Crime Stoppers will NEVER collect personally identifying information in regards to a tip or lead when the tipster requests to remain anonymous. We take painstaking steps to ensure your complete anonymity when you submit information to us online. Instead of collecting your personal information, we provide you with a special tracking number that is YOUR link to the case. If you lose this number, we have no way of knowing that you are connected to the information you provided. This is also important because the tracking number will be required if you qualify for a reward.

We do, however, collect unidentifying information in different ways from Visitors who access to the various parts of our website. We use this information primarily to provide you a customized experience as you use our Services and, generally, do not share this information with third parties. However, we may disclose the information collected if we believe that such disclosure is required by law.

  • Responses to Email Inquiries

When Visitors send email inquiries to Scotland Crime Stoppers, the return email address is used to answer the email inquiry we receive. Scotland Crime Stoppers does not use the return email address for any other purpose and does not share the return email address with any third party.

  • DONATIONS

1) Sponsor information collected at the time of a donation, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without the consent of the sponsor, other than for the express purpose of delivering information about the donation to the sponsor.

2) Private sponsor information (credit cards, financials, etc.) will not be kept on file for more than 60 days. We may, however, keep said information on file for the purposes of providing subscription-based donations at the request of the sponsor.

3) Sponsor will not receive any continual email solicitation from Scotland Crime Stoppers, unless the sponsor consents to the solicitation, or through a double opt-in process. And, if the sponsor does consent to receive email from Scotland Crime Stoppers, a simple unsubscribe option will be made available, along with unsubscribe instructions in every email.

  • Voluntary Surveys

We may periodically conduct both business and individual surveys. We encourage our visitors to participate in these surveys because they provide us with important information that helps us to improve the types of services we offer and how we provide them to you. Your personal information and responses will remain strictly confidential, even if the survey is conducted by a third party. Participation in our surveys is voluntary.

We may take the information we receive from individuals responding to our Surveys and combine (or aggregate) it with the responses of others to create broader, generic responses to the survey questions (such as gender, age, residence, hobbies, education, employment, industry sector or other demographic information). We then use the aggregated information to improve the quality of our services to you, and to develop new services and products. This aggregated, non-personally identifying information may be shared with qualifying third parties.

  • Special Cases

It is Scotland Crime Stopper's policy not to use or share the personal information about Visitors in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. However, Scotland Crime Stoppers may disclose personal information about Visitors, or information regarding your use of the Services or website, for any reason if, in our sole discretion, we believe that it is reasonable to do so, including: to satisfy laws, such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, regulations, or governmental or legal requests for such information; to disclose information that is necessary to identify, contact or bring crimincal legal action against someone who may be violating the law.
